A few of us gathered outside after the 5pm Sunday church service today to celebrate the new sign in front of the reading room and church space at 351 Centre St. in JP. Come on by to say hello.
…tonight at 5pm. See you at 351 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain. We’re located at 351 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, in the heart of Hyde Square. Public parking across the street, Jackson Square T-stop down the street and the #39 bus a couple of blocks away.
Tonight is our first evening church of the summer! See you at 351 Centre St. in JP at 5pm with an in-depth look at God.
To help you decide, join us tomorrow, Sunday morning at 9:30, for a Lesson-Sermon on Adam and Fallen Man. We’re at 351 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain’s Hyde Square; parking available in the public lot across the street.
Hope you’ll join us for worship Sunday morning at 9:30 @ 351 Centre Street in JP. The Lesson-Sermon topic is Probation After Death, and looks at how sowing to the Spirit is connected to everlasting life/Life. Here’s an interesting post on the topic from Tony Lobl:
We are trying different ways to configure seating at our 9:30am Sunday service, where we will be listening to a Lesson-Sermon on matter. The Golden Text is a classic that offers new insights when looked up in different Bible translations. The King James Version in used in the Lesson, John 6: 63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: (KJV). But look at these others, too:
It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless. (NRSV)
The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. (New Living)
What gives life is God’s Spirit; human power is of no use at all. (Good News)
What gives life is God’s Spirit; human power is of no use at all. (JB Phillips)
The Spirit can make life. Sheer muscle and willpower don’t make anything happen. (The Message)
We are *so* happy to announce that tomorrow we hold our first service in our new space at 351 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain (at the usual 9:30am time). The reading room will open in a few weeks and we’ll be throwing an open house soon thereafter. Let us know here if you want to be on the email invitation list for that upcoming open house. Meantime, know you are welcome at our Sunday services and 7:30pm Wednesday meetings!
Just in time for the move to Daylight Saving Time (yes, set your clock forward one hour this Saturday night), we are moving into our new home: 351 Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. Our new Hyde Square home is just down the street from Jackson Square T-stop on the Orange Line and nestled in a vibrant community with great Cuban and Ethiopian restaurants, Scottish and Irish pubs and street murals.
We’ll be back with more posts to tell the story of our move. But meantime, please join us on Sunday and beyond!
Yes, it’s a trend, according to The Cassandra Report, which tracks millennial trends — in this case “gravitating toward…activities that provide both a sense of calm and a feeling of productivity…”:
Brands embrace the mindful coloring book trend

ART MINDFULNESS MARKETING PRESENCE OF MIND HOBBIES
Recognizing their tendency to become too immersed in their digital lives, young people are looking for ways to regain a sense of mindfulness and presence in the real world. They’re gravitating toward offline activities that provide both a sense of calm and a feeling of productivity; one such that’s gaining significant traction is coloring. Brands are jumping on this trend, creating coloring pages and books to address this growing need.
The Lesson-Sermon this week on Man is captured nicely by The Message version of the Bible’s translation of this line from the first section:
KJV: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. (Romans 8: 16, 17)
MSG: God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us — an unbelievable inheritance! (Romans 8: 16,17)
Join us at 9:30-10:30am Sunday at 155 Lamartine St. in JP (the Nate Smith House; come around into the back courtyard) for the whole church service.
