Google the word “promises” and you will encounter literally hundreds of pages of responses. On a day to day basis, each of us probably makes at least one promise – to ourselves if not to someone or something else. How many of them are actually kept?
With that in mind, what does Scripture say about the promises that are indeed fulfilled? In the book of Joshua we read (English Standard version):
Not one word of all the good promises that the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.
And in the book of Isaiah, (King James version):
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
But what might be the nature of these promises or covenants? What do you think or have you experienced. Your contributions are welcome tonight, Wednesday, 7:30 pm at 351 Centre Street Jamaica Plain.
